Natalie Imbruglia has revealed she would love to become a mother – whether she finds the right man or not.
She told the Evening Standard that she would look into “other options” to start a family if she does not find a partner.
The 40-year-old singer and actress said she was “a bit behind the curve as far as family is concerned,” but added that motherhood “is going to happen”.
Natalie, who was married to rocker Daniel Johns for five years until their 2008 divorce, said she was “still hopeful” that she would meet someone.
“I may well look into other options if I don’t,” she revealed. “But right now, I have got time. I don’t stress about it. I live in the moment. I would really love to be a mum. And it is something that is going to happen.”
Natalie, who starred as Beth Brennan in Neighbours and released the hit song Torn in 1997, admitted that she’d put music aside after her album Come To Life flopped in 2009.
“Apart from a few drunken nights out and some shower singing, I hadn’t sung a note for five years,” she confessed.
But the singer is back with Male, a collection of cover songs, and has even been writing original music again.
“I went into the vocal booth and said to my producer, ‘I’m not sure what’s going to come out!’ I’ve started writing songs… I’ve already done eight or 10. I feel like I can begin my career again.”
