Pearl Jam, the one band from grunge’s heyday still going strong, are touring South America later this year. After that, the band will apparently be going back into the studio to work on a new record. Bass player Jeff Ament, in an interview with Vice that also features a lot of talk of skateboard parks, says the band will get to work on an album to be released in 2016.
Lightning Bolt, Pearl Jam’s most recent LP, was released in October 2013. After spending much of 2014 touring extensively in support of the album, the band’s members have shifted focus to their various side projects as of late. Eddie Vedder joined The Who on stage during their most recent American tour, helped bid David Letterman adieu, and even collaborated with his daughter for a song. Meanwhile, Mike McCready reunited with Mad Season for a one-off performance, and recently participated in a tribute concert to Iggy and the Stooges.
