David Bowie has launched new single ‘Blackstar’, alongside a ‘short film’ to accompany the lengthy track.
‘Blackstar’ premiered on Sky Atlantic at 8.45pm tonight (November 19), ahead of the second episode of The Last Panthers and was made available on Bowie’s YouTube channel shortly afterwards. It will be available for download from tomorrow (November 20).
Johan Renck – the director of the series – also directed the single’s accompanying short film, while the track features as title track on the series. Renck said of Bowie’s work: “I was looking for one of the icons of my youth to write the music for the title sequence, but was presented with a God. [Bowie’s] first response was precise, engaged and curious.”
