Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band paid tribute to the late David Bowie last night (January 16) by performing his track ‘Rebel Rebel’ on stage.

The New Jersey native gave a rendition of the ‘Diamond Dogs’ single during the opening night of his ‘The River Tour’ in Pittsburgh. Springsteen will play 24 dates throughout North America in support of his ‘The Ties That Bind: The River Collection’ box set, celebrating 36 years since his ‘The River’ album was first released in 1980.

Springsteen introduced the cover with a story thanking Bowie for his support of his music “back in the early days”. The singer said The Thin White Duke called him when he was recording his ‘Young Americans’ album in the mid-1970s, and even covered some of Springsteen’s music himself.
