Iggy Pop is planning to “step back” from the music industry some time soon. The 69-year-old singer has been a big name in the music industry since the late Sixties, and frequently hit headlines due to his partying and drug taking over the years. But while Iggy is still as popular as ever, he admits he is considering retirement in the not too distant future.

“I will step back at some point. Another album would be a big undertaking from an old git like me!” Iggy said during an interview on The Graham Norton Show to air on Friday night (24Jun16).

His last album was Post Pop Depression, which hit shelves in March (16). He previously said he was considering the record to be something of a farewell album from the industry, but said retirement doesn’t mean he will give up his partying days.

“If I want to put pedal to the metal for five minutes on a given night, look the f**k out, right? That I can do,” he said during a talk in Los Angeles back in April (16).

And during a discussion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France on Wednesday (22Jun16), Iggy said he is intending to keep up his energetic public persona for as long as possible while embracing the changes that come with ageing.

“There’s a lot of things I can’t do now that I could do when I was 25,” he explained. “But because I was basically kind of a loony, what’s happened with me is that the less I can do, the better off I am! But I can do a music show, and I enjoy that. And I can do an advert, or a part in a film, or a radio show. And I really enjoy those things.”
