His pointedly-titled Farewell Tour gig at Hyde Park on 15 July was announced recently but we’d heard nothing from the man himself on the matter, until this afternoon that is.

The legendary US singer has today confirmed he will officially bring his touring life to a close in London this summer after a string of UK and Ireland dates.

The 76-year-old will still do the odd show and continue to make music but for the sake of his family, this will indeed be the end of the road.

He said:

I’ve wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end. Now I know.

The Homeward Bound singer will perform at Manchester Arena on 10 July, before heading to Glasgow, Dublin and finally London, for what’s bound to be an emotional evening.
