The Rolling Stones claim 2023’s Official Christmas Number 1 album with Hackney Diamonds.
With guitarist Keith Richards having turned 80 years old this week, he and bandmates Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood see their latest album return to the summit once again. Hackney Diamonds topped the Official Albums Chart upon its release in October.
Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, The Rolling Stones say:
“It’s a wonderful way to round off 2023. Thank you to everyone for listening to Hackney Diamonds. Have a very happy Christmas and New Year!”
Michael Bublé’s seasonal staple Christmas holds steady at Number 2. The parent album of the Official biggest Christmas song of the 21st century (It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas) has spent five non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 in the UK since its 2011 release.
A new festive favourite for 2023 rises to a brand-new peak this week, as Cher’s Christmas collection leaps ten places to Number 5.
Noah Kahan’s Stick Season rebounds back to its previous peak of Number 6, while André Rieu & Johann Strauss Orchestra’s Jewels of Romance reaches new highs this week, up 11 to a best of Number 8.
Several albums also re-enter the Top 40 today, including Gregory Porter’s yuletide collection Christmas Wish, jingling up to Number 24, Pink Floyd’s former Number 1 magnum opus The Dark Side of the Moon at Number 34, and Cliff Richard’s latest release Cliff with Strings – My Kinda Life which rebounds to Number 37.
