Biffy Clyro want to team up with Adele on a “mad rock” record.
The Scottish rockers are known for their rock anthems, and released their seventh album, Ellipsis, on Friday (08Jul16).
They’ve previously collaborated with Good Charlotte and Marina and the Diamonds, but have also turned down joint ventures, including with Leona Lewis and Robbie Williams. They now have their sights set on Britain’s record-breaking star Adele.
“I’d love to make a mad f**king rock record with Adele, something edgy,” frontman Simon Neil told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
“So if she’s up for it we would make a f**king glitch rock record with Adele, we could help her sell less records.”
Simon got the idea after listening to the 28-year-old’s latest record, 25. He admits he had hoped it would be a little heavier, though quickly adds he would never bad-mouth Adele as the world loves her so much.
“It’s ridiculous how careful you have to be, if you criticise some pop stars like Taylor Swift or Adele you might as well go to a cave and see out your days,” he smiled. “But I think Adele will really surprise people next time.”
For the cover of their new album Simon and his bandmates, brothers James and Ben Johnston, have stripped off. The men keep their modesty though, by curling up in the foetal position.
Baring all is the done thing with some female popstars, so Simon decided he wanted in on the naked action too.
“If women can get naked on their album covers then why can’t we?” he asked.
“It’s patently ridiculous, we’re not looking forward to seeing the big prints on the Tube (London Underground).”
